Let's talk sleep...a favorite topic of those of us focused on our health and fitness...and for good reason! Getting an adequate amount of sleep each night is key to maintaining your health and reaching your goals and here are some reasons why:

1. Getting enough sleep (7-9 hours for most adults) boosts your immune system
2. Maintaining a healthy weight
3. Lowering your risk for serious health problems
4. Reducing stress
5. Improving mood
6. Increasing your performance (physical & mental)
7. Improving your memory and learning abilities

If you're someone who struggles to get a good night's sleep, now's the time to make some improvements to your routine. Shut off electronics at least an hour before bedtime, keep the temperature low in your bedroom and limit alcohol and caffeine intake. It's also a great idea to try to get to bed around the same time each night so your body gets accustomed to the habit. Try out these tips and see how you feel after some solid Zzzzs!
