Staying on Track Without Restricting

Maintaining a healthy diet is a challenge for all of us. Am I getting enough protein? The right balance of carbs and fat? The daunting nature of reaching for that ✨perfectly balanced diet✨ is overwhelming to say the least.

Well I have good news for you. None of us are perfect, and we don’t have to be to see results. Moderation and variety are key to keeping on track while navigating our busy lives.

There are so many nutrient rich choices out there, ready for the tasting. Try to focus on getting in your fruits and vegetables, with a mixture of whole grains and lean protein to fuel you up. Don’t be afraid to try new foods; shaking up your routine can be fun! Grab that dragonfruit or that lychee you’ve been eyeing and give it a taste! It very well could be your next favorite.

Another factor to remember is that it's okay to feed your soul. Social gatherings, celebrations and family cultural traditions are all a part of who you are and it’s okay to eat those foods that make you happy. Give yourself permission to enjoy them.

A helpful rule of thumb to keep in mind is the 80/20 rule. Shoot for eating those nutrient rich foods that support your healthy lifestyle about 80% of the time and allow the 20% that's left over to be a space for foods that bring you joy.

Your fitness journey is just that, a journey. There aren’t any shortcuts or secret tricks that will take you to where you want to be. It takes small sustainable changes that you can carry with you throughout your life; steps that you’ve already begun to take!
