Slow + Steady Dieting

If you're trying to lose fat going into Summer, it can be tempting to throw yourself into a strict eating plan that promises fast results. However, when it comes to fat loss, slower and steadier is going to give you better, longer lasting results, and here's why:

Losing fat more slowly will allow you to maintain as much lean muscle mass as possible. That lean mass fuels your metabolism, keeps you functionally strong and will provide that "toned" look as you lose bodyfat.

Reducing your calories too quickly gives you very little wiggle room if and when you hit a plateau. If you lower your daily (or weekly) calories just a small percentage when you start, that will give you more flexibility as you move through your fat loss phase.

Focusing on slow fat loss also alows you to enjoy your favorite foods in moderation as you diet. Yes, you can eat the occasional cookie or glass of wine while on a diet as long as it fits into your overall caloric deficit.

Keep this in mind as you start your next fat loss phase and see how you feel!
